Community guidelines

At BuddyTalk, we strive to create a secure, respectful, and welcoming platform where people can connect meaningfully. Our Community Guidelines are in place to ensure that all users behave in a manner that is safe, respectful, and compliant with the law. By using BuddyTalk, you agree to follow these guidelines. Failure to comply may result in warnings, suspension, or permanent banning of your account.

1. Respect and Kindness

Our community is built on respect, and we expect all users to:

  • Be Kind and Courteous: Engage with others respectfully, whether in chat, comments, or group interactions.
  • No Harassment or Bullying: Any form of harassment, bullying, or intimidation is strictly prohibited. Repeated unwanted contact or targeting individuals with abusive language will lead to disciplinary action.
  • Civil Disagreements: Disagreements should remain respectful. Do not engage in personal attacks or abusive behavior when discussing topics with others.

2. Zero Tolerance for Hate Speech, Pedophilia, and Illegal Content

We have zero tolerance for content or behavior that involves:

  • Pedophilia and Exploitation: Any content that sexualizes or exploits children is strictly forbidden. This includes grooming, sharing illegal materials, or engaging in any form of predatory behavior. Violating this rule will result in an immediate and permanent ban, and in some cases, reports to law enforcement authorities.
  • Hate Speech and Discrimination: Content that promotes hatred or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability is strictly prohibited.
  • Violent or Graphic Content: Sharing explicit violent or graphic content that glorifies or promotes harm is not allowed.

3. No Illegal Activities

BuddyTalk cannot and will not tolerate any illegal activities on our platform, including but not limited to:

  • Drug Trafficking, Human Trafficking, and Criminal Activities: Any discussion, promotion, or participation in criminal activities will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to law enforcement.
  • Child Exploitation or Pornography: Sharing, distributing, or promoting any content involving child exploitation or illegal pornography is prohibited and will be reported to law enforcement.
  • Fraud and Scamming: Any attempt to deceive or defraud others on the platform (e.g., phishing, financial scams) will result in a permanent ban.

4. Content Guidelines

Users are responsible for the content they share on BuddyTalk. Please follow these guidelines:

  • Appropriate Content Only: Content shared should be safe for everyone. Any form of explicit, adult, or sexually inappropriate content will be removed.
  • No Violent or Hateful Content: Content promoting violence, harm, or abusive behavior is strictly forbidden.
  • Respect Privacy: Do not share personal information (yours or others’) without consent. This includes private conversations, addresses, phone numbers, or other personal data.

5. Authenticity and Honest Engagement

We value authenticity and honesty on BuddyTalk:

  • Real Identities: Use your real identity when registering for BuddyTalk and ensure your profile information is accurate.

BuddyTalk is not a platform for unsolicited commercial or business use:

  • No Unauthorized Advertising: You may not use BuddyTalk to promote products, services, or businesses without prior approval from BuddyTalk.
  • No Unauthorized Data Collection: Using the platform to collect data from users (e.g., scraping, phishing) without permission is strictly prohibited.

8. Account Bans and Appeals

BuddyTalk takes violations of these guidelines seriously. Accounts may be suspended or permanently banned for violations, including but not limited to illegal activity, harassment, and hate speech.

  • Banning Process: If you violate these guidelines, BuddyTalk may ban your account. You will receive an email notification explaining the reason for the ban.
  • Permanent Bans: For severe violations, such as involvement in pedophilia, hate speech, illegal activities, or repeated offenses, permanent bans will be issued without warning.

Appealing a Ban:
If you believe your account was banned in error, you may submit an appeal. Appeals should be sent to appeal@buddytalk.org, or you can appeal through our in-app feature. When submitting an appeal, please include the following:

  • Your username and email address.
  • A detailed explanation of why you believe the ban was unjustified.

Our team will review your appeal, and a decision will be communicated to you. Appeals are typically reviewed within 7-14 days.

External Complaints:
Alternatively, if you feel your ban was not resolved fairly, you may file a complaint through GlobalComplaint at compliance@globalcomplaint.org for a more formal review of the case.

Creating a New Account After a Ban:
If your account was permanently banned, you are allowed to create a new account. However, repeated offenses on multiple accounts or attempts to bypass bans may result in permanent IP bans or further legal action.

9. Reporting Inappropriate Behavior

If you come across content or behavior that violates these guidelines, we encourage you to report it. Here’s how:

  • In-App Reporting: Use the in-app reporting tools to flag inappropriate content, messages, or profiles.
  • Contact Support: If the in-app reporting doesn’t resolve the issue, you can email us at support@buddytalk.org for assistance.

We take all reports seriously and will investigate them thoroughly. We reserve the right to take disciplinary action against any user found to be violating our Community Guidelines.

10. Changes to Community Guidelines

BuddyTalk reserves the right to update these guidelines at any time to adapt to new issues or changing community needs. Users will be notified of significant changes through email or in-app notifications. Continued use of the platform after the changes means you accept the updated guidelines.
